| The USA extranet web sites require that you have Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed on your desktop. This is a free download and plug-in to your browser. You can download the plug-in for your browser and operating system at:

| I receive a security alert warning message about the web site has not verified my security certificate. I click okay to accept and the site is displayed and all seems to work correctly. Why am I receiving this warning message and what can be done to prevent it from displaying? |
| USA signs their own Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates and if you do not have the USA Root certificates installed, your browser will display the warning. Instructions to install USA's Root certificates are below. Please note that the information transmitted is still encrypted even if you do not install the certificates. Certificate installation just removes the browser warning, it does not affect the encryption in any way.
In order to eliminate the browser warning, click on the two links below and follow the instructions of the certificate install wizard. When the wizard asks you for the certificate store location, select "Trusted Root Certification Authorities." Once both installations are complete you should not see the browser warning any longer. You may have to close out all instances of your browser and open the site again.
United Space Alliance MS root signer
USA Secure Server Authority MS web signer
Install instructions are available with screen shots.
For backwards compatibility, USA's previous versions of the Root Certificates and install instructions are listed below. These should not be required for access to USA websites.
The warning screen indicates that you have 128 Bit Secure Socket Layers (SSL) installed on your PC, but you do not have the USA security certificate installed. This warning is being prompted by the local client setting under the options/advanced tab of your Internet explorer web browser called "warn about invalid site certificates". When you click "Yes" on this certificate security alert the secure socket layer (SSL) session is still completed (notice the lock in the browser). In order to remove this security alert you must have the web site signer and trusted root certificate in your local browser. To accomplish this you may click on the hyperlinks below to install the signer. All installs must be done. Follow the onscreen instructions and use all of the defaults. Say OK to open the link, click install certificate, click next, click next again, then click finish. Once both roots and webs signers installations are complete you should not see this alert any longer.

| I can't log into the extranet service I have been validated to use. I enter my user identification and password and click OK, but it keeps prompting to login again. |
| The password you are using may have expired or it may not be the one that was originally assigned to you. Passwords must be changed every 60 days, cannot be reused until 200 days have elapsed and cannot be reused until the password has been changed 25 times.
If you have not been assigned a user identification or password you will need to follow these steps.
Contact the USA Help Desk at one of the numbers listed above. The help desk will validate that you are using the correct user identification and/or assign you a password or reset your password using a strong password syntax.
The syntax of a strong password will follow these guidelines:
A strong password must be at least eight (8) characters long and contain at least:
One upper case letter (A, B, C,..).
One lower case letter (a, b, c,..).
One numeric digit (0 through 9).
One special character (!, @, #, $, %, etc.)
A strong password cannot contain:
More than 3 consecutive characters of the user's ID.
Any English language word of more than 3 characters. The sequence "bar" in a password would be accepted, but the sequence 'barn' would be rejected.
Repeating sequences of more than 2 characters. The password 'Tz$3zxczxc8' would be rejected, because although it meets the previous criteria, it contains the 3 letter repeating sequence 'zxczxc'.
A palindrome. It cannot be the same backwards as it is forwards - like 'T$8zz8$T'.
